The Porcupine

The Porcupine is both a Bed and Breakfast and a Lodge. It has been named by “National Geographic Traveler” as “one of six choice lodgings in the Adirondacks”. A great setting for a romantic getaway in any season. 5 spacious guest rooms. Their premier guest room, The Charles Suite has a wood burning fireplace, private enclosed balconey and a new whirlpool bath. Can you picture yourself relaxing in the whirlpool bath?

You may want to ask them, "Why is this Bed and Breakfast called The Porcupine"? There is an interesting story behind the name.

Lake Placid Bed and Breakfasts are really fine places to stay at. I really enjoy staying at them. The atmosphere in Lake Placid Bed and Breakfasts are very homey and relaxing.

The host or hostess are usually friendly, helpful and accommodating . They do want you to enjoy your stay. Also, they are glad to tell you about the different fun things to do in the area. For example, one host gave me some great tips on good places to take photos of the Adirondack Mountains.

Usually the host or hostess is a good cook so you are bound to get a very tasty and filling breakfast. At breakfast you may have pancakes, waffles, eggs, cereal, fruit, some type of meat, juice, tea or coffee and/or some other tasty treats.

At breakfast, you can meet some really fine people. One time I spoke with a warm couple, the guy was from the states and the lady was from France. With another couple I met we had a good conversation about internet dating since that is how they had met a year, earlier.

If you have any dietary restrictions, than please be sure to let the host and hostess know ahead of time. They will be glad to accommodate you.

The homes are neat, clean and well furnished. The bedrooms are very comfortable and can be simple to plush depending on which one of the Lake Placid lodgings you are staying at. Some Bed and Breakfasts offer a variety of rooms that meet different budgets. In some rooms, you have your own bathroom and for other guest rooms the bathrooms are shared.

After having a nice rest and a great breakfast in one of the Lake Placid lodgings you may want to go into town for shopping, site seeing or dining at one of the local restaurants.

Also, enjoy hiking, boating, biking, and fishing here in the warmer months. In the winter ski, ride a bobsled ludge, go on sleigh rides or try some other outdoor activity while you stay at one of the Lake Placid Lodgings.
