New York museums

Plattsburg Museums

Champlain Valley Transportation Museum, Their focus is on early American Lozier luxury automobiles. 8 Museum Way, Plattsburg, NY, 12903. (518) 566-7575. Open Tuesday-Saturday 10am-2pm.

Suny Plattsburgh Art Museum has a long tradition of visual art presentations on campus, and offers a fully developed professional visual art experience to the college and community. In The Feinberg Gallery you will find an Asian collection, Rockwell Kent’s sketches and collectibles from his travels to Alaska and the art museum gift shop. Also, in the Feinberg Library there is a Holocaust Memorial. On the second floor of Ward Hall there is a nostalgic exhibit of household furnishings and dishware of the 1960’s.

Winkel Sculpture Court is an enclosed, glass-domed atrium located on the second floor of Myers Fine Arts Building where there are works by Nina Winkel as well as tropical plants and even a fish pond. Also, the Plattsburgh Art Museum exhibits include African Tribal Art, glass works including Early American Pattern Glass and Victorian Decorative Glass, an etching by Rembrandt, Japanese prints, French etchings, art in the style of German Expressionism and more.
